Adding a payment method means typing your card details into a form on Storefront. This article explains what happens to those details, and what Storefront can see once the card is saved.
What happens when you save the card
The card field on that page belongs to Stripe, the payment processor Storefront uses. What you type goes from that field straight to Stripe, and Stripe returns a token — a reference that stands in for the card. Only that token, and the nickname you choose, are sent on to Storefront. Your card number is not part of what Storefront receives.
What Storefront sees afterwards
Once the card is saved, what Storefront holds is the brand, the last four digits, the expiry date, and the cardholder name and billing address you gave. That is enough to tell your cards apart and to take a payment when you book, and it is what you see listed under Payment methods.
When the card is charged
Saving a card does not charge it. It is charged when you book a space, for the amount shown to you at the time.
If something does not look right
If you see a payment method on your account that you do not recognise, or you are not sure whether a message asking for your card details really came from us, do not reply to it — write to support@thestorefront.com.
